What is the procedure?
The elbow joint can become damaged due to a fracture, an accident, osteoarthritis, and inflammatory or rheumatoid arthritis. This can lead to severe pain, stiffness and restriction of movement. Elbow replacement surgery replaces the the damaged parts of the elbow with an artificial prosthesis.
What does the package include?
The elbow replacement package includes transportation between the airport, clinic, and hotel, 4 days stay at a hotel, 5 days stay at the clinic and 7 days at a specialized rehabilitation center. It further includes all consultation and surgeon's fees, all anesthesiologist fees, initial and final examinations and any necessary medication for surgery and recovery.
How is the procedure performed?
The surgeon makes an incision at the back of the elbow where there are less blood vessels and nerves. With the help of computer guided positioning the damaged parts of the elbow are removed and a place is made for the implant. The implant comprises of two parts: one is fitted to the humerus while the other is fitted to the ulna. The two are joined together by a pin to form the hinge. The surgeon moves the elbow to check for the fit and the stability of the replaced implant and then closes the incision./p>
General anesthesia is used throughout the entire procedure. The surgery lasts between one to three hours.
