What is the procedure?
Hip replacement is the procedure that replaces the natural hip joint with the artificial ball and socket type of hip joint. Hip replacement is recommended for the people who have severely damaged hip and suffer from pain without respite from the pain killers or other medications. Most of those who undergo hip replacement have osteoarthritis of the hip joint, rheumatoid arthritis, fracture of the neck of the femur (thigh bone) and other hip related medical conditions such as bone tumour or bone loss.
What does the package include?
The hip replacement package includes transportation between the airport, clinic, and hotel, 4 days stay at a hotel, 5 days stay at the clinic and 7 days at a specialized rehabilitation center. It further includes all consultation and surgeon's fees, all anesthesiologist fees, initial and final examinations and any necessary medication for surgery and recovery.
How is the procedure performed?
The surgeon first makes an incision of about 6 to 8 inches along the side of the hip and through the muscles. The damaged bone tissue and cartilage are removed from the hip joint while the healthy parts are left intact. The original femur and acetabulum are replaced with the prosthetic using latest computer guided techniques.
General anesthesia is used throughout the entire process. The surgery lasts between two to three hours.
