What is the procedure?
Varicose veins are the knotted purple or blue colored swollen veins that appear above the surface of the skin. They are usually found on the back of the calf or on the inside of the leg; however, any vein in the body can become varicose. Varicose veins are unattractive and can also cause aching, discomfort and itching. They have the potential of causing serious illness if not treated properly.
What does the package include?
The varicose veins package includes transportation between the airport, clinic stay, all consultation and doctor's fees, initial and final examinations and any necessary medical wraps, bandages or girdles.
This procedure requires a stay of 1 to 3 days for recovery, checkups and post-surgical examinations. While we do not cover hotel stay we will provide transportation between your chosen place of stay and the clinic. We can also assist in making reservations at local hotels of your choosing.
If desired, you can also choose to spend your entire recovery period at the clinic at an additional cost of €40 per day.
How is the procedure performed?
There are various techniques for the removal of the varicose veins. Sclerotherapy involves the injections of saline directly in the vein. After some time the solution hardens and causes the varicose vein to close and collapse. Nearby healthy blood vessels absorb the flow of blood from the collapsed vein. The procedure is simple and requires no anesthesia. The laser surgery method exposes the veins to high intensity laser beams that cause them to collapse. Surgical ligation and stripping involves making an incision around the skin where varicose veins are present and removing or tying off the problematic veins. The surgeon will determine the best method for the removal depending on severity and other factors.
What are the benefits of the procedure?
The varicose veins are unattractive and their removal restores the original look of the leg. Their removal also avoids a host of other potential disorders that are typically associated with the presence of varicose veins.
